STAY IN THE FLOW, WHEREVER YOU GO

When it comes to hybrid work, the techniques I describe in this book—theming your days, grouping your meetings, and planning intentionally in a Daily List—become even more important. Take a good look at your calendar template from Chapter 5 and ask yourself:

Does it make sense with the hybrid lens?

Do I have a theme for a certain day that would be better if I was in the office that day, or with more of my colleagues?

Should I shift my commute time based on what I know about my peak hours (that is, do some focus work from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at home, then drive in to work)?

Once you know what types of work you like to do where, in what specific spots, this starts to drive your Weekly and Daily Lists a little more precisely. Bouncing around from place to place each week or working with colleagues in multiple locations makes it even more important to be certain about these items.

Think of hot spots, not spots, grouping, and planning ahead as tools to help your brain adapt to the most successful hybrid work schedule. Having the knowledge of where and how you work best, coupled with the intention of what you do where, can set you up for success regardless of your location or schedule.
